Leadership with Lewis: What I (a Very Good Boy) Can Teach You About Leadership By Lewis the Fluffy CEO (Chief Joy Officer)
Woof woof! Hi there, I’m Lewis. You might think I’m just a cute ball of fluff with a squeaky toy, but let me tell you—I’ve got some serious leadership chops. I may not wear a suit or have LinkedIn (yet), but every day I teach my human a thing or two about how to lead with heart.
Here’s what I’ve learned from a lifetime of tail-wagging leadership:
1. Be Loyal Like a Lab, Brave Like a Bichon Frise – I stick by my human no matter what—rain, shine, or tough Zoom calls. Loyalty builds trust. If you want to lead, be someone your team can count on, especially when things get ruff. (See what I did there?)
2. Listen Like a Dog at Dinner Time – You don’t need to bark to be heard. Sometimes just sitting, tilting your head, and really listening does the trick. Humans feel seen when you pay attention—and good leaders know when to zip it and tune in.
3. Be Your Fluffy, Weird Self – I don’t try to be the neighbour’s border collie (he’s a bit intense anyway). I’m just Lewis—goofy, kind, and always ready for a cuddle. Leaders, be YOU. The real you. People can sniff out fakes faster than I find dropped food under the couch.
4. Don’t Forget to Play – Fetch? Yes. Tug-of-war? Absolutely. Running in circles for no reason? Highly recommended. Play makes everything better—even work. Bring some joy to the pack. Trust me, productivity thrives when tails are wagging.
5. Be Present (Like, Really Present) – I’m not worried about yesterday’s missed treat or tomorrow’s bath. I’m here, right now, eyes locked on you, fully in the moment. That’s what great leaders do too—they give you their full attention and make you feel like the most important pup in the room.
