The Queensland Audit Office provides independent assurance to Parliament on the state’s public finances — an organisation whose own leadership operates under the same scrutiny it applies to others.
WHY IT MATTERED
QAO needed to know its next layer of leaders could hold judgement and presence under the same scrutiny the office applies to everyone else.
The challenge
In an environment where every judgement is examined, QAO’s senior leaders needed a confidential space to sharpen judgement, strengthen influence and lead with presence — development that couldn’t be delivered in a classroom.
What we did
Across an eight-month engagement, one-on-one executive coaching for 12 senior leaders — six sessions each, confidential, evidence-based and direct. Goals were set with each leader, grounded in the Leadership Brain Framework™, and the engagement concluded with a formal recommendations report to the organisation. The same cohort also completed the LeadershipHQ 360, with individual debriefs feeding a consolidated capability report the executive team could use for succession planning.
